The Wikipedia entry about immortality mentions some symbols related to it, like the phoenix, the ouroboros, the "ankh" hieroglyph (☥) and "the Möbius strip in the shape of a trefoil knot".
This trefoil knot is a starting point for interesting matters in mathematics and history, even more here, combined with the Möbius band.
It would be fun to reproduce it. Searching for a formula I found a very convenient one in a .pdf from the 3D-XplorMath project (a mathematical visualization software originally written in Pascal, now redone in Java).
Formula in hand, I just had to choose where to go next. Gnuplot? A script in Python for Blender? C with a graphics library? A nice chance of doing something with OpenGL... And — did someone just say Python + Blender?

Many interesting subjects and discoveries... How did it all begin? Something about illustrating a short story whose most obvious secondary theme was immortality.
Walking is fun :).
